Stitch Fix March 2016

March is such an exciting month!!  Warm weather, longer days, great basketball and spring break!  It’s a good thing it’s such a great month because I got my first disappointing fix 🙁  This is fix #4 for me so I still feel really good about the service.  If I’m super thrilled with every three out of four fixes then I’ll be a member forever!  Plus…my bank account needs a down month every once in awhile!  So…here’s what I got…

1. Collective Concepts Rover Zip Back Racerback Blouse $58.  I got this blouse in my first fix in a red wine color to go under a great cardigan in the same fix.  Unfortunately I stained it the first time I wore it and just CONNOT get the stain out. So I asked my stylist to send it again.  Unfortunately she sent it in black instead of the wine.  It won’t go with the cardigan but I’m keeping it anyway because hey…it’s a black blouse…I’ll wear it.  Plus I didn’t want to be out the $20 styling fee.  So this was my only keep this month.

2.  Bancroft Cielo Mini Hammered Necklace $38. This necklace was a little over the top for me plus it was VERY similar to the necklace I received in my last fix. Loved the one last month…it was a little more subtle!

3.  41Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse $48. I wanted to like this blouse especially because I got it right before St. Patrick’s Day and it would have been perfect!  But it was CLING-Y!  I mean…I think it was the right size but it just clung to me everywhere and not in a good way!  The material also seemed very thin and cheap. Goodbye blouse.

4.  Joleen Knit Dress $119.  Ew.  This just wasn’t me at all.  It was really thick material and just made me look bulky and icky and ewy. I will note that this was not my stylists fault as I did pin this dress on Pinterest!  Unfortunately it was much different in person.

5.  David Lerner Coated Legging $138.  Finally, these damn leggings.  First of all:  I. LOVE. LEGGINGS.  I wear them all the time in every season and I was looking for something other than just plain black cotton.  AND I LOVED THESE.  They fit great and had such fun detail.  But…DID YOU SEE THAT PRICE!?!?!?!?   Holy moly!  I’m making a vow right now that I will NEVER spend $138 on a pair of leggings.  Goodbye my loves…have a safe trip back 🙂

So there you have it…I’m keeping 1 out of 5!  After the $20 styling fee, I paid $34.00. Happy wallet but darn 🙁  Hoping for a GREAT April fix!  Here’s what my stylist had to say:

What is Stitch Fix??

Stitch fix is an online shopping service and I think their system is brilliant.  Here’s how it works:

Create an account on the Stitch Fix website and complete an extensive style profile.  The profile questionnaire will include information about your size, style, price range, etc.  You will also determine how often you want to receive your “fix”.  Your profile is then sent to a personal stylist who puts together your fixes.  You can also opt to attach a Pinterest board or other social media sights so your stylist gets a better feel for you.

I chose to receive monthly fixes with my first to arrive in December, 2015.  A few days before your fix arrives, your account will be charged a $20 styling fee.  Each fix contains 5 items.  The items vary and can be clothing or accessories…dress, pants, sweater, necklace, shoes, purse, etc.  It’s a surprise each time!  Also included with the five items is a personal note from your stylist and outfit ideas for each individual item.  Finally, there is a price sheet.  Now comes the pressure cooker!  You have 3 days to determine what you want to buy and what you want to send back. There is a prepaid bag for returns…just put your discards in the bag and drop it in any mail box.  Finally log on to your account and pay for items you want to buy.  Your $20 styling fee will be put towards your purchase.  If you purchase all five items, you will get a $25% discount.  So…to wrap this up…you are taking a $20 risk for each fix.  The worst that can happen is that you send all 5 items back and you’re out the 20 bucks.
